Educating children today is
vastly different than in any previous decade. The 21st century emphasis on learning requires communication; effective oral, written and presentation skills,
collaboration; working effectively as a team member, critical thinking; solving problems conventionally or through innovation and creativity; allowing the
child to travel experimental pathways to create, are of utmost importance in providing children with the “tools” to meet the needs of today’s demanding
requirements. Choosing the appropriate school for your child is an important decision; let me introduce you to our school…
The Laurel School provides a unique, nurturing environment where children with their own learning styles have the opportunity to
develop skills that they are unable to obtain in conventional classrooms.
Each child has a unique set of personal learning styles that enables them to process incoming information and synthesize it for storage
and output. Students at The Laurel School have learning differences that are assessed through the nationally recognized Schools Attuned neurodevelopmental
construct program to create an individualized learning profile. This profile is used by our teachers to develop a plan to educate students in a manner that
provides programmatic pathways to unlock their potential utilizing academic and social-emotional learning strategies, small class sizes, a standard core
curriculum, a school counselor, classes in art, music, dance, drama and daily physical education. The Laurel School’s teachers use strength based
intervention to accommodate individual successes while constantly assessing each child’s individual learning plan. Every child has intellectual and
social-emotional potential. Our teachers are committed professionals who truly strive to promote each child’s potential in a meaningful manner allowing
them to move forward independently.
The Laurel School is a community of learners, teachers and parents, working together to provide an environment where children learn,
attain confidence, take risks and speak effectively. I invite you to visit our website to learn more about the school and see the difference we provide.
