A Laurel ClassroomChildren have different learning styles
We believe that the key to academic, social and emotional growth is to recognize the whole child: who they are and how they learn. Our teachers develop specific strategies for learning and personal achievement by zeroing in on each child’s unique abilities and learning style.

Each child can succeed

How can your child attain academic excellence? By building a history of success one day at a time. At The Laurel School, daily achievement instills confidence and creates a sense of self that empowers children to explore, take risks and build lifeskills. Our students develop at their own pace, accelerating or focusing on a subject as their ability dictates. Accommodations take place seamlessly throughout the day so that no student stands out from his/her peers.

Student-to-Teacher Ratio
By keeping class sizes small—generally not more than 10 students per class—The Laurel School offers teachers the freedom to discover and thoroughly understand each student’s unique talents, strengths and needs. This knowledge is the foundation for successful individualized teaching strategies.

Growing Up in the Laurel Family
The Laurel School teaches children from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Our small student body and unique perspective cultivate an inclusive, nurturing social community. Mutual respect, compassion, and responsibility: these are the cornerstones of personal pride and development at The Laurel School. This family atmosphere inspires students, parents and staff to truly know and understand each other in order to meet the challenges of school and daily life.

Inclusion and Diversity Produce Results
Our inclusive community provides a safe, supportive environment where every child belongs. Students develop a lifelong love of learning, grow into responsible individuals and achieve their personal potential. By attending a school that fully embraces different learning styles and the diversity of the Bay Area, Laurel students appreciate what they have in common with those who are different.
