Our physical education program provides students with an opportunity to develop movement and confidence in games and sports at their own ability levels. It includes sequential development of physical skills, cooperative teamwork, non-competitive games, and traditional competitive sports. Early childhood classes emphasize gross motor skills, balance, body awareness and hand-eye coordination. Upper Elementary and Middle School level students move into team sports, with a focus on conditioning, health and sportsmanship. Students in grades three to eight may participate in Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) intramural sports, competing in volleyball and basketball through our neighboring school, Star of the Sea.
“The Laurel School is special because here we appreciate the unique and wonderful qualities of each of our students, while helping them achieve their goals.” — Dan Hutchens,
Physical Education teacher
