Parent Guidance Association (PGA)

We believe that education thrives in a school where parents, teachers, students and administrators know each other well, and communicate comfortably and truthfully in an environment of mutual respect.

Parents and guardians play a crucial role in supporting The Laurel School. Families are required to volunteer a minimum of 30 hours each year, or 20 hours for single-parent households. The School depends on this generous parent involvement to maintain high quality education programs and moderate tuition costs. One of the many benefits of participation is personal enjoyment of the school community, where people of many backgrounds and interests come together to work, support and celebrate.

What Is the Parent Guidance Association ( PGA )?
The PGA is a volunteer organization committed to supporting the Laurel School in the education of our children through fundraising activities and teacher support. Every parent or guardian is a member of the PGA , contributing both financially and with volunteer time. The PGA also provides essential volunteer support for many activities including the Lunch Program, the Annual Fund, the Dance Program and the Halloween Festival.

How the Parent Guidance Association ( PGA ) Works
The PGA ’s elected Executive Committee works closely with the Board of Trustees and the Administration to support the school and ensure that each family feels like a part of the school community.

The annual Laurel School Auction is the PGA ’s primary fundraiser. The funds raised help to ensure that the Laurel School will always be a learning environment where individual needs are addressed, and where children learn to meet the challenges of the future in a nurturing and academically stimulating environment.

The Laurel School PGA relies on active parent participation in all its fundraising and community building activities. Parents and Legal Guardians of Laurel School students are assessed a dues fee to support the fundraising, community and administrative activities of the PGA.
